VUOTO in Italian, VOID or EMPTY in English is an empty space, the nothingness. A place that is empty of everything, even the air. Is a concept that causes, to a certain extent, unease among people but ..
Leonardo da Vinci wrote “Of all the great concepts we carry within us, that of nothingness is undoubtedly the most fruitful”. But the Void is not to be confused with the Nothing. Once there was a tendency to assimilate the two concepts. Today science and philosophy clearly separate them.
In the course of contemporary art, the theme of emptiness has had several studies, among the various expressions different artists all had in common a strong sense of the tangible and the sensitive.
The void, therefore, I would say that it is not total absence, the non-being or denial of being. The emptiness is full, it is a road, it is energy, it is positive. It makes us think a lot about emptiness, maybe even something that doesn’t exist, because there is no more, or we would like to have it, or we feel that it should be there. That emptiness perhaps shows us a lack, precisely because it is a trace of a lack of presence and that lack tells us an infinity of things to discover.
